একে বেকে বয়ে চলা তুরাগ নদী- তাতে কি মোহ! কি টান! কি মায়া! কিসের টানে লাখো মানুষ তুরাগ তীরে সমবেত হয়! কাঁধে লাকড়ী, হাতে হাড়ি পাতি আর চাল, ডালসহ একত্রিত হয়! কোন জিনিস তাদেরকে টেনে নিয়ে আসে খোলা আকাশের নিচে,বাশ চট টিন ও লোহার পাইপের সামিয়ানার তলে! ওশে ভরা জমি, হোগলার বিছানা, কনকনে শীত- তবুও আসে তুরাগতীরে, বিশ্ব ইজতেমায়, প্রেমের মেলায়। যারা একবার ইজতেমায় এসেছেন তাদেরকে নতুন করে বুঝিয়ে বলতে হবে না, ইজতেমায় কত মানুষের বসবাস। চটের সামিয়ানার নিচে ধনী-গরীব, আশরাফ-আতরাফ, প্রেসিডেন্ট-ফকিরের অবস্থান। কত মানুষ! কত ভাষা! কত বর্ণ! কেউ চীনা, কেউ আরবী, কেউ ভারতী, কেউ বাঙালী- তবুও মনে হয় সবাই এক অভিন্ন।

সময়োপযোগি লেখাটির জন্য আপনাকে মোবারকবাদ জানাই। জামাতের ইদানিংকালের কার্যকলাপে আমারও মনে আপনার মত প্রায় এই কথাগুলির উদ্রেক হয়। আপনার লেখার সুত্রধরে আমি একটি বিষয়ের ওপর আলোকপাত করতে চাচ্ছি। আমার জানা মতে কাদের সিদ্দিকি কোনদিন তার অতিতের কুকর্মের জন্য প্রকাশ্যে অনুশোচনা বা ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করেনি। তাহলে জামাতি নেতৃবৃন্দ কিভাবে তার সাথে উৎসবে মেতে উঠে? যাদেরকে এই নরপিশাচটি খুচিয়ে খুচিয়ে নৃশংসভাবে হত্যা করল সেইসব নীরিহ তরূণদের চেহারা কি তাদের মনে একটুও দাগ কাটে না? কতখানি বিবেকবর্জিত ও আদর্শ বিচ্যূত হলে তারা কাদের সিদ্দিকির মত একটা স্বীকৃত যুদ্ধাপরাধিকে অতিথি হিসেবে ডেকে আনে! সত্যিই অবাক হতে হয়! এরকম ভন্ডামি করে আর কত নিচে নামবে তারা? কবেই বা তাদের বোধদয় হবে? সেটার কোন সম্ভাবনাই দেখছি না। ইতিমধ্যে পঁচন থেকে গন্ধও বেরুনো শুরু করেছে তাই তাদের অঙ্গপ্রতিষ্ঠান শিবির তথাকথিত মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের ছেলেমেয়েদের বৃত্তি দেওয়ার প্রহসনও শুরু করেছে! এসব মরিয়া কীর্তিকলাপে তারা কাকে খুশি

The article is a very honest appraisal of the Jamaat leadership. The best way forward for the Jamaat leadership would be to allow energetic younger people to take on responsibility and lead the party. Instead of imposing their ideas and ways of thinking on the party they should allow others to express their views freely. If they believe in democracy they should look at other countries where people with differing views are given the chance to lead the party. Jamaat has been led by the same leadership for decades and has failed the people and the party. Is it not the right moment now to try a different set of leaders? This will show the political foresightedness and magnanimity of the party’s character.
This article is very well-argued and packed with nothing but the truth! Unfortunately very few people have the guts to tell the truth while most prefer to sell their souls to falsehood. Sadly corruption and obsession with fame and affluence are not just the characteristics of secular political parties in Bangladesh but also of the so-called Islamic parties as there is not that much difference between two. How on earth can their visions be similar? Allah (swt) has ordered us to hold tight to His rope i.e. the Qur’an and the Sunnah of our beloved prophet Muhammad (saw) without any compromise or deviation. The behaviour of Jamaat-e-Islami’s leaders is really very frustrating, I must say. What is the point of portraying themselves as Islamic while shamelessly copying secular leaders? Their excessive love for power and money has deluded them to change their ideology. Muslims of Bangladesh, living in Bangladesh or abroad, who genuinely love their faith and want to establish the true Islam based on the Qu’ran and Sunnah need to decide whose side they would take. There is no point in supporting financially or in any other way, Jamaat-e-islami, as they have lost their credibility as an ‘Islamic’ party. They keep changing their views according to their and others’ whims and desire. There is no way that we will witness any success whatsoever in the Islamic movement in Bangladesh with these sorts of corrupted leaders and activists.
Having read some pages of the book, I felt that I should write a few lines on the literary merits of it. Many a book goes beyond their discursive setting to please the readers of other disciplines, such as Edward Gibbon’s THE HISTORY OF THE SARACEN and THE HISTORY OF THE DECLINE AND FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE; they are read for their literary merits more than their original objective as being historical work. This piece of writing of the author is almost similar. Once you start reading it, the narrative quality doesn’t seem to let you go of it. I would recommend readers of any persuasions, including political, to read it; no one needs to be persuaded to believe or accept what he had written, but simply to appreciate the ‘authorial energy’ that he had induced into narrative; you cannot escape it.

Thank you for your thoughtful analytical writing. I am impressed. I want to add with you, time has ripen enough to discuss these issues. From eminent Jamaluddin Afghani to recent days scholar highlighted many aspects of Muslim education to revert it into Islamic education. I shall rather want to give emphasis on leadership and research that can modulate the present history to our desired design. We criticise a lot but we dont put real example. We have a lot of theoretician all over the world. But most of our scholars are preoccupied.

(Pak) Major Siddique Salek claimed in his book (written on the Liberation war of Bangladesh) that Agartola Conspiracy was a fact although Field Marshal Ayub Khan was failed to prove the complaints and was forced to withdraw the case. Besides the Agartola conspiracy, he (Maj Salek) also claimed that at the end of the historical 7th March address Mr. Mujib uttered "Pakistan Zindabad" (this claim was supported by the veteran journalist Mr. Nirmal Sen ALTHOUGH at the same time is was denied by another journalist (??) Mr. Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury). Regarding the Agartola Conspiracy, I personally heard from one Mr. Sultan (I cant recall his full name. He was serving with the then Pakistan Navy and was one of the accused in this infamous case) that the matter of CONSPIRACY was a fact. So, could you please provide us any authentic media report(s) on the above claims.
Mashallah your article is very unique and well-argued. You have done a great job in presenting the truth of our history. It is a shame that nobody has really made any effort to write about this topic with an open mind. We are badly missing the other side of this story of so-called Independence. People are scared to tell the truth. However, as a Muslim we are commanded to be just and truthful in every situation. No matter how hard and dangerous it may be , we as Muslim have to be intellectually honest. Thats where we Bangladeshis are failing very badly. The new generation of Bangladesh are growing up with a very distorted view of 1971 and the process how this country earned it's so-called independence. I thank you from bottom of my heart to embark upon such a great journey to speak the truth and to wake people from utter delusion. May Allah swt help us all to understand the importance of (real) history and take lesson from it.
